ipHasher is layout
obfuscation technology for sharing proprietary designs
between EDA software vendors and customers in the field.
By removing proprietary layout information from layout
files while preserving the ability to reproduce software
bugs, the technology offers the industry's first
solution to a long-standing dilemma in the EDA
community.
The problem in question
frequently arises at a critical juncture in the
manufacturing and design cycle. IC manufacturer and
foundries feed a variety of complex layout files into
third-party software from their vendors that has never
been tested on these designs. When bugs occur in design
software, IC manufacturers and foundries are unable to
release the proprietary patterns that created the
problems, and suppliers cannot reproduce these problems
with the test cases available to them. Many of these
bugs are very subtle, only affecting a handful of
products laid out with the same design rules. ipHasher
conserves the specific properties of the bug while
removing the sensitive intellectual property within the
product design, allowing unfettered sharing with the
supplier.
The product, called
ipHasher helps with the debugging of design software in
the field. The software creates a new layout file
encapsulating the bug but devoid of sensitive product
design information. The technology accelerates the
debugging process at a significant cost and time-savings
